Last night was a big day for the fans of High School Musical. The sing-along continued last night at 8pm on The Disney Channel and all the lead stars from the first TV Movie returned.
I was able to watch High School Musical 2 with Kristine amidst the hectic schedule for Kapatiran 2007. Chloe was really excited since I was able to watch HSM2.
After the premiere, I called Chloe (even with the time difference) and talked away regarding the TV movie.

Inconsolable
The Backstreet Boys are back again and ready to release their 6th studio album due out October 30th!! This is their first single off the album, which debuted last Monday night at NYC.
“Inconsolable” is a piano-heavy rock ballad and was written & produced by Emanuel Kiriakou, and co-written by Lindy Robbins & Jess Cates. The song has a rockish ballad feel, which the boys are really professionals at doing. They
I still love their music, even though I have grown up!

Almost over...
Wow!
Time flies so fast and the next thing you know it is already Thanksgiving and then Christmas!
Well, there is so much to look forward to next year but I am not going to spill the beans yet. Many things have been going on, both good and not so good.
I will just keep it to myself first to be more thrilling.

And in the end, Harry Potter...
As early as 6pm, a number of avid Muggles waited in front of various bookstores for the most awaited book for 2007. For my part, I still have to wait for September 18 to be able to appreciate the final installment for the Harry Potter series. Why?
I got my wish that the book set would be in a special commemorative box (a collectible trunk-like box).
It will be an awesome addition to my library. The books are already great but the chest makes it even more exciting!
Though, I will not be able to hold my own copy in a more than a month, I already know the details. Ha, ha, ha! I have the means! The final installment is a little bit dark and a little less fantasy like.
J. K. Rowling's right. Everything comes to a definite (and very satisfying) end. I'm sad that it's over, though!

Wisdom with a Smile

Carving for Life
Two friends were walking through the desert. During one point of the travels they got into an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was obviously hurt, but without saying a word, wrote in the sand: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE."
They kept walking until they reached an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped, got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but his friend saved him. After the first one recovered from his near drowning, he carved out on a stone: "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE."
The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you carve out of stone, why?"
He replied: "When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."
Learn to “write” your problems and pains in sand, but carve your blessings in stone.

Taipan!
In all the traditions, a birthday treat is a must… and it went off like clockwork! Hahaha!
This year, my 31st (yes, 31st!) birthday, I treated the remaining Manila-based Sistahud at the Taipan Restaurant of The Tower Club, at Philamlife Tower, Paseo De Roxas, Makati City.
We feasted ourselves with fine Chinese cuisine and enjoyed the Sistahud bonding.
Nevertheless, we shared the birthday photos with her and talked about what happened during that night.
For Ella and Mary Ann – thanks again for everything especially for the gifts!

My 31st!
The 31st birthday was celebrated quietly and without too much fun fare. Just like the usual traditions, I attended the first morning mass and prayed for additional blessings and thanked the Big Almighty for everything..jpg)
Mom prepared my favorites for lunch and we had tons of laughter over Spaghetti, Chicken Lollipops, Chicken Barbeque, Dinuguan at Puto. The Yayas was also busy eating their heart out with Mom, Chloe and Reyboy..jpg)
As usual, Dad was busy with his meetings but he met us for dinner at Glorietta 3 with Kuya Dong..jpg)
After enjoying Thai dinner, we went home to enjoy desserts. I blew the candles from my two birthday cakes, one from the family and the other one from Dra. Carissa. I got cash from Mom and Dad and a beautiful card, and a very cute stuffed pillow from Chloe and Reyboy. They promised that they’ll have an additional present come Christmas so that they can compensate for the small birthday present.
Cheeblings… I’ll be waiting!

How Do YOU Eat An Oreo Cookie?
Psychologists have discovered that the manner in which people eat Oreo cookies provides great insight into their personalities. Choose which method best describes your favorite method of eating Oreos:
1. The whole thing all at once.
2. One bite at a time
3. Slow and methodical nibbles examining the results of each bite afterwards.
4. In little feverous nibbles.
5. Dunked in some liquid (milk, coffee...).
6. Twisted apart, the inside, then the cookie.
7. Twisted apart, the inside, and toss the cookie.
8. Just the cookie, not the inside.
9. I just like to lick them, not eat them.
10.I don't have a favorite way because I don't like Oreos.
Your Personality:
1. The whole thing:
This means you consume life with abandon, you are fun to be with, exciting, carefree with some hint of recklessness. You are totally irresponsible. No one should trust you with his or her children.
2. One bite at a time:
You are lucky to be one of the 5.4 billion other people who eat their Oreos this very same way. Just like them, you lack imagination, but that's okay, not to worry, you're normal.
3. Slow and Methodical:
You follow the rules. You're very tidy and orderly. You're very meticulous in every detail with every thing you do to the point of being anal retentive and irritating to others. Stay out of the fast lane if you're only going to go the speed limit.
4. Feverous Nibbles:
Your boss likes you because you get your work done quickly. You always have a million things to do and never enough time to do them. Mental breakdowns and suicides run in your family. Valium and Ritalin would do you good.
5. Dunked:
Every one likes you because you are always up beat. You like to sugar coat unpleasant experiences and rationalize bad situations into good ones. You are in total denial about the shambles you call a life. You have a propensity towards narcotic addiction.
6. Twisted apart, the inside, and then the cookie:
You have a highly curious nature. You take pleasure in breaking things apart to find out how they work, though not always able to put them back together, so you destroy all the evidence of your activities. You deny your involvement when things go wrong. You are a compulsive liar and exhibit deviant, if not criminal, behavior.
7. Twisted apart, the inside, and then toss the cookie:
You are good at business and take risk that pay off. You take what you want and throw the rest away. You are greedy, selfish, mean, and lack feelings for others. You should be ashamed of yourself. But that's ok, you don't care, you got yours.
8. Just the cookie, not the inside:
You enjoy pain.
9. I just like to lick them, not eat them:
Stay away from small furry animals and seek professional medical help - immediately.
10. I don't have a favorite way, I don't like Oreos:
You probably come from a rich family, and like to wear nice things, and go to upscale restaurants. You are particular and fussy about the things you buy, own, and wear. Things have to be just right. You like to be pampered. You are a prissy.
I wonder if we have some Oreo Cookies in the pantry...

Hey You!
It’s not so bad
There’s still the chance for us
Hey you, just be yourself
Don’t be so shy
There’s reasons why it’s hard
[Chorus 1]
Keep it together, we’ll* make it alright
Our celebration is going on tonight
Poets and prophets would** envy what we do
This could be good, hey you
(*The first time it’s sung, it’s “you’ll”)
(** The third time it’s sung, it’s “will”)
Hey you, open your heart
It’s not so strange
You’ve got to change this time
Hey you, remember this
None of it’s real including the way you feel
[Chorus 1]
Save your soul, little sister
Save your soul, little brother
Hey you, save yourself
Don’t rely on anyone else
[Chorus 2]
First love yourself
Then you can love someone else
If you can change someone else
Then you have saved someone else
But you must first love yourself
Then you can love someone else
If you can change someone else
Then you have saved someone else
But you must first
Hey you, there on the fence
You’ve got a choice
One day, it will make sense
Hey you, first love yourself
Or if you can’t
Try to love someone else
[Chorus 1, Chorus 2]

The international trailer includes scenes from Fred and George's flight from Hogwarts, Umbridge and Filch's attempts to keep order, and Fudge and Dumbledore clashing at the Ministry of Magic. We also see glimpses of centaurs, thestrals, Snape, the Order, the DA, Azkaban, Bellatrix, Sirius and the Dark Lord himself.

Ilabas na ang Lechon!
I am not so sure if anybody can remember that particular Globe commercial wherein a very eager CPA board passer was calling his Dad using his mobile phone in front of the board passers’ lists while on the other end, the Dad was busy cleaning his car and then the son shouted, “Ilabas na ang Lechon”!
For my family, that left a big mark. Yes, we are Globe Handyphone subscribers but the said commercial stuck as glue especially to my dearest brother, Reyboy.
As early as 12:30am last April 17, while watching on TV the breaking news about the Virginia Tech shooting, there was a more important news for my family. It was the ECE Licensure Examination results. Dad’s currently in Taipei and Mom’s in our Paranaque residence, so what the hell, tawag and text galore! Even at 12 AM… who cares!
Kuya Dong was luckily in Cebu last Monday and Mom requested him to buy a Lechon for Reyboy. When Mom got confirmation that he’ll be going home Thursday afternoon, we planned a surprise dinner for Reyboy and we invited his fellow board passers. It was a short notice affair and only for the new ECEngineers and I had to sneak out just to text all of his friends.
.jpg)
The big surprise ended when he saw Josh’s car in the driveway. We completely forgot to tell him not to park near the house but still he didn’t expect to see his friends.
Jabb, Monchie, Ira, Lee, Reyboy, Josh and Peter
Seven classmates, six of them passed the board with my brother, while Lee is still completing his courses. One classmate that didn’t make it to the party was his 4th thesismate, Herbert. He’s currently undergoing a rigid training in Cavite. We surely did miss his presence..jpg)
Though the dinner was an on-the-spot prep for Mom, all of them enjoyed the night and had fun.

.jpg)
Hmm… suddenly, I’m hungry! Off to the kitchen!

Engr. Reyboy in the House!
Out of the 2,534 examinees, only 889 passed the April 2007 Electronics and Communications Engineer Licensure Examination given by the Board of Electronics and Communications Engineering.
One of the successful examinees is my dearest brother, J. Reynaldo M. Mojica III.

Along with Reyboy are the Macho Men namely, Jaime Brillante II, Herbert Hernandez, Maynard Joseph Lavalle, Peter Ryan Ocampo and Stephen Joshua Zarraga will also be present for the oath taking ceremony on Monday, May 7, 1:30 p.m., at the Fiesta Pavilion of the historic landmark Manila Hotel.
Congratulations on your excellent performance! A toast to all of you and a round of applause. Now, it is time to celebrate and be merry!
Sabi nga sa Globe TV Advertisement: Dad, ilabas ang Lechon!

Pinoy... Pinoy Ako!
I got this from Ate Sheilah and it is a good read.
******
I have read this column on the Philippine Daily Inquirer the other day, 08 April 2007, and it is really an enjoyable article...
Enjoy, Be Pinoy; Bahala Na Si Batman
By Gilda Cordero-Fernando
Inquirer
Posted date: April 08, 2007
Manila, Philippines -- Pinoy is what Filipinos call each other, a term of endearment. You’re Pinoy from Pilipino just like you’re tisoy from mestizo or chinoy from chino.
It’s a nickname just as Minoy is from Maximo, Ninoy from Benigno, Tinay from Florentina and Kikay from Francisca. But now they’re Maxi and Ben and Tintin and Cheska.
You’ve been called indio, goo-goo, Negro, flip, noypits. Or Filipino, a biscuit that is brown outside and white inside, or a word stricken from the dictionary which means domestic. Ay, lintik!
You’re Juan de la Cruz or Mang Pandoy. You’re common tao, masa, urban poor but also Cecile Licad and Don Jaime, Jose Rizal and Tony Meloto, Shawie and Pacquiao and Nick Joaquin, galing galing.
Born June 12, 1896, the Republic of the RP is a Gemini, good at connecting, good at loving-loving, good at texting and interpersonal skills.
Filipinos like to yakap, akbay, hawak, kalong, kalabit. We sleep side by side, siping-siping, we go out kabit kabit.
There’s lots of us to go around. Someone always to listen to a sob story, even in a jeepney, to share-a-load or to share a TV.
Everyone’s tito, tita
Who has a hipag, a bayaw, a bilas, a balae, a kinakapatid? Who has an ate, dete, diche, kuya, diko? The maids call her ate, the driver calls him kuya and everybody is tito or tita.
Who has a Lola Baby, a Tito Totoy, a bosing called Sir Peewee, his wife Ma’am Lovely and their kids Cla Cla and Cring Cring?
The Pinoy lives in a condo, a mansion, an apartment, a bahay na bato, ilalim ng tulay, Luneta, Forbes Park, and Paris too!
He’s a citizen of the world, he’s in all the villages and capitals, colonizing the West, bringing his guitar and his bagoong, his walis na tingting, his tabo, his lolo and lola.
Where there’s a beat, there’s a Pinoy. You’ll find her singing in a nightclub in Tokyo, a musical in London, the Opera House in Sydney. Sure, they’ve got the infrastructure, the theaters and architecture. Who but Pinoys direct their plays, or trains their company managers, and imports our teachers, by the way?
Viagra to Victoria’s Secret
Look at that baggage—all pasalubong, none for herself. From bedsheet to hair color, Toblerone to carpet, Viagra to paella pan, Victoria’s Secret to microwave.
Hey, Joe, don’t envy me ’cause I’m brown, you’ll get ultra violet from that sun and turn red not brown.
Just lucky, I guess. God put us all in the oven, but some were uncooked and some were burned, but me, I came out golden brown!
Hey, Kristoff! Hey David and Ann! Your Pinoy yaya makes your kids gentler, more obedient, she teaches them how to pray. Hey Big Brother! Hey Grandma Moses! Who but Pinoy nurses make your sick days easier all the way?
We made the jeepney, the karaoke, the fluorescent bulb, the moon buggy. We invented People Power and crispy pata; popularized virgin coconut oil, scaled the Everest and made it with Cebu furniture abroad among the best. Ever trying for the Guinness World Record—with the longest swim of a child, the longest kiss, the longest longanisa…
Linguist
The Pinoy is a linguist. As in. As if. For a while. Open the light. Close the light. Paki ganyan naman ang kuwan sa ano. Tuck in. Tuck out. Don’t be high blood. If you’re ready na, I’ll pass for you.
Hayop; Hanep! Bongga ka ’day, feel na feel kita, kilig to the bones ako. Don’t make wala, don’t make tampo. Taralets na, babes, let’s go, nababato na ang syota mo.
I’m inviting you to my party, please RSVP. Oo means “yes” or “maybe,” or “yes if you insist,” or “maybe if it doesn’t rain.”
“Yes” is also a nice way of saying “no.” Yes, hindi kita sisiputin. “No,” eto na ako at ang barkada ko. Please don’t ask a Pinoy a question like that!
Just flows
She’s not so exact, not so chop-chop, she just flows and flows. Filipino time? Naku, huli din naman ang Kano!
The Pinoy finds time to be nice, to be kind, to apologize, to be there when you’re depressed, to help you with your utang and your wedding dress.
The Filipino is a giver, never mind what it does to his liver, never mind what it takes. Hardships of the Third World don’t dry up his blood, they just make him more compassionate, more feeling, of the other guy’s lot.
Note that the maid sends all her wages home to ailing daddy. She is the OCW whose labor of loneliness created the original katas ng Saudi.
‘Bahala na’
The Filipino is fearless, bahala na si Batman, which actually means Bathala na or “leave all to God.” Okay lang if I die by bitay, okay lang if I live, okay lang if I survive by the skin of my teeth.
Saway ni Inay: Di ka naman Bill Gates, di ka naman French, mahirap nang magbuhat ng sarili mong bench.
Be Pinoy! Enjoy!
Iba talaga ang Pinoy!

Why Aren't You Married Yet?
Aside from me, two members of the Sistahud are in their early 30’s and still single. We have great jobs; we travel and have money to spare for our everyday knick-knacks. Is their anything wrong with being single at your early 30’s?
Do we need to be concerned?
No, I don’t think so! As long as we are happy and comfortable with our lives then we should have no worries. I still have many friends who are not married yet and they are in their mid-thirties.
What else? Being single at this age, we are plagued with the age-old question “why aren’t you married yet?
Some have a hard time answering this question but I bumped into these snappy comebacks and had a good laugh.
- You haven't asked yet.
- I was hoping to do something meaningful with my life.
- Because I just love hearing this question.
- Just lucky, I guess.
- It gives my mother something to live for.
- My fiancee is awaiting his parole.
- I'm still hoping for a shot at a beauty pageant.
- I'm waiting until I get to be your age.
- It didn't seem worth a blood test.
- I already have enough laundry to do, thank you. Because I think it would take all the spontaneity out of dating.
- I wouldn't want my parents to drop dead from sheer happiness.
- What? And lose all the money I've invested in running personal ads?
- I don't want to have to support another person on my paycheck.
- Why aren't you thin?
- I'm married to my career, although recently we have been considering a trial separation.
It is quite the answer, for now. It would not be a snappy one, but it is the truth.

Bumps and Bellies
Talk about baby boom for 2007!
A number of my friends are all having babies and I had to attend a baby shower this past weekend. While sitting at the table, one of the women asked me when was it going to be my turn to have a baby shower. I wanted to reach across and strangle her, but I know it's not her fault - she doesn't know that I am not pregnant, I’m just fat!
A few weeks back BFFL Ruth, shared to me the wonderful news that she is almost eight weeks pregnant with their second baby.
We, of course, including dearest husband Teddy, are all wishing for a baby girl so that Elian will be the big brother. I cannot wait for the new baby and definitely, the baby will be politically inclined.
Another girlfriend that is pregnant and just waiting for the big day is my high school twin, Vangie.

She is currently in the last days of pregnancy and anxiously waiting for Julianne’s arrival. Since this would be her first born, I cannot wait to hop to Macau and see them soon.
Rhea Rowena on the other hand is still very beautiful even if she is pregnant and on her 37th week of pregnancy.

The proud parents, Rhea and Nap are ready for the arrival of Andrea Isabelle. Such a beautiful name and definitely will be as beautiful as her mom.
Jannice will have her turn this May since she is also on her last month of pregnancy. However, I have not heard anything from her for a few months now; she’s very much occupied with her work and a few problems.

I do not have any news even from husband, Roger; maybe he’s also busy with work. I just wish to see her with the baby bump before I see the baby itself. I do not even know if her baby is a girl or a boy. I wish her and the baby well!
As I was channel surfing while reading mails, I received another call from a former officemate and guess what; she’s sharing again her great news…. “Rae, I’m pregnant!
And it does not stop there... an actress from a fave show of mine, Sarah Wayne Callies is also expecting.
Ok, I wonder when will I get a call from MA and EE?

Easter Wishes

Anyway
People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
In life, you will often be given the opportunity to do right or wrong. The wrong may be easier, more (superficially) satisfying, more profitable, or appear to put you in a better light. Do the right thing anyway.

Four Wives Club
In ancient times, there was a rich merchant who had four wives. He loved the fourth wife the most, adorned her with rich robes, and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best. He also loved the third wife very much. He is very proud of her and always wanted to show off her to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men.
He too, loved his second wife. She was a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant's confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his second wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times. Now, the merchant's first wife was a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.
One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be!"
Thus, he asked the fourth wife, "I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!" replied the fourth wife and she walked away without another word. Similar responses came from the third and second wife.
Then a voice called out: "I'll leave with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." The merchant looked up and there was his first wife. Greatly grieved, the merchant said, "I should have taken much better care of you while I could have!"
Actually, we each have four wives in our lives;
4. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it will leave us when we die.
3. Our 3rd wife represents our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others.
2. The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.
1. The 1st wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material, wealth and sensual pleasure; but in truth our real self.
The true inner you, which never disappears is your "soul".

St. Patrick's Day
May the wind always be at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
- An Irish Blessing
Cheers!

Today
There are two days in every week about which we should not worry. Two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.
One of these days is yesterday, with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed. We cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone!!
The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow, with its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance. Tomorrow is beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise, whether in splendor or behind a mask of clouds. But it will rise. Until it does we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.
This leaves only one day: today.
Any man can fight the battles of just one day. It is when you and I add the burdens of two awful eternities - yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down.
It is not necessarily the experience of today that disturbs one's peace of mind. It is often time the bitterness for something, which happened yesterday, and the dread of what tomorrow may bring. Let us therefore live one day at a time.
We should remember the past, plan, and anticipate the future, it is critical that either do not paralyze us. By focusing on making the best of the present, we can actually make the past a sweeter learning experience, and make tomorrow's hopes and dreams closer to reality.

The Secret of Life
"The secret of happiness is the realization that life is a gift, not a right." Once we understand this axiom of life, our perspective on everything changes. And once our perspective on everything changes we become more fulfilled. And once this happens, we become much happier and realize that our life is different than it was before.
And not that just our life is a divine gift, but everything in our life. While of course we have to work hard to earn something, whether it be financial reward, a college degree on someone's respect, these are still all divine gifts that should be appreciated as such.
Imagine everyday is your birthday and throughout the day you keep receiving unexpected gifts. How would you feel. So now try to convert this same sense to your everyday life, and appreciate everything as a gift. I'll guarantee you will be a much happier person.
Just try this for one day - and see where it takes you.

McPheever!
Katherine McPhee’s album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard charts.
I'm over your lies
And I'm over your games.
I'm over you asking me
When you know I'm not okay.
You call me and I...
And I pick up the phone.
And though you've been telling me, I know you're not alone.
Oh and that's why
Your eyes... I'm over it.
You're smile... I'm over it.
Realized... I'm over it, I'm over it, I'm over...
Wanting you to be wanting me.
No, that ain't no way to be.
How I feel.
Read my lips.
Because I'm so over...
(I'm sorry)
Moving on
It is my time.
You never were a friend of mine.
Hurt at first a little bit
But now I'm so over
I'm so over it...
I'm over your hands
And I'm over your mouth
Trying to drag me down
And fill me with self doubt
Ohhhhh, and that's why
Your world, I'm over it
So sure, I'm over it
I'm not your girl, I'm over it
I'm over it, I'm over
Wanting you to be wanting me.
No, that ain't no way to be.
How I feel.
Read my lips.
Because I'm so over.
Moving on
It is my time
You never were a friend of mine
Hurt at first a little bit
Now I'm so over
So over it.
So Over It
I'm So Over It
Oh--Oh-Oh--Oh
Don't call
Don't come by
Aint no use don't ask me why
You'll never change
There'll be no more cryin' in the rain
Oh--Oh-Oh-Oh
Oh-Oh
I'm Over It
Wanting you to be wanting me
No that aint no way to be
How I feel
Read my lips
Because I'm so over (I'm so)
Moving on and it's my time
You never were a friend of mine
Hurt at first
A little bit
And now I'm so over it
So Over It
I'm So Over it
I'm Over It
The song is catchy! I found myself humming “Over It” today after hearing it on the radio. Her album is great and has several potential hits.
Congrats Kat!

Viva, Las Vegas!
Wahoooooo! I am so happy.
This just in from the Peacock: "NBC has renewed its veteran drama series Las Vegas (Fridays, 9 pm/ET) for a fifth high-rolling season through 2007-08, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, president of NBC Entertainment.
'The cast and producers have consistently given us what we want from Las Vegas — pure entertainment — and we're looking forward to another fun ride next season with the show,' said Reilly."
I got to have my Josh Duhamel fix.

Obsessed Completely
I have accepted that The O.C. has ended (February 22, 2007). I will just remember it for the great show that it was. After watching the series finale, I did not really want The O.C. to do another season because it was perfect.
It was the best episode of the entire series; it gave us closure to all the characters. Summer and Seth's wedding was the greatest; I honestly did not expect it. Ryan and the kid were amazing.
The episode made me cry, honestly.
The last 10 minutes however, were incredible. The flashbacks to the pilot and season one was good and the way it ended with Ryan seeing the kid was just perfect. It was just great to see it come full circle.

Cheers to Ellen!
She was amazing! I do watch her show everyday, and the Oscar’s last night was just the best because it had Ellen Degeneres as the host.
Congratulations on her monologue, she is so funny and she looked so relaxed, very natural, even her outfits, and hair & make up looked great too. She even managed to work a dance in!
My sides hurt from laughing so much. I love to laugh. We all love to laugh. The world needs to laugh.
Ellen, you go girl!

Love and Time
Once upon a time, there was an island where all feelings lived Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others including Love.
One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all repaired their boats and left. Love was the only one who stayed.
Love wanted to persevere until the last possible moment. When the island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for help. Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, "Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you." Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel.
"Vanity, please help me!" "I can't help you Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered. Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, "Sadness, let me Go with you." "Oh...Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!" Happiness passed by Love too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her!
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come Love, I will take you." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that he even forgot to ask the elder her name. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way.
Love realizing how much he owed the elder asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who helped me?" "It was Time," Knowledge answered.
"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep Wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is."
Let us bring out the love in our lives --- and watch what happens.

I am a Filipina!
You think you really know Filipinos. Then read the article my sister forwarded.
What makes the Filipino Special?
Source: Ed Lapiz, INQ7.net, 1 December 2006
Filipinos are brown. Their color is at the center of human racial strains. This point is not racism, but for many Filipinos to realize that our color should not be a source or reason for an inferiority complex. While we pine for a fair complexion, white people are religiously tanning themselves whenever they could, under the sun or some artificial light, just to approximate the Filipino complexion.
Filipinos are a touching people. We have lots of love and are not afraid to show it. We almost inevitably create human chains with our perennial akbay (arm around another shoulder), hawak (hold), yakap (embrace), himas (caress), kalabit (touch with the tip of the finger), kalong (sitting on someone's lap), etc.
We are always reaching out, always seeking interconnection.
Filipinos are linguists. Put a Filipino in any city, any town around the world. Give him a few months or even weeks and he will speak the local language. Filipinos are adept at learning and speaking languages. In fact, it is not uncommon for Filipinos to speak at least three: his dialect, Filipino, and English. If they work abroad, many speak an added language, the host country's language.
In addition, Tagalog is not 'sexist.' While many "conscious" and "enlightened" people today are just now striving to be "politically correct" in their language, in the process, bending to absurd depths to coin "gender sensitive" words, Tagalog has evolved gender-neutral words since time immemorial - asawa (husband or wife), anak (son or daughter), magulang (father or mother), kapatid (brother or sister), biyenan (father-in-law or mother-in-law) , manugang (son- or daughter-in- law), bayani (hero or heroine), etc. Our languages and dialects are advanced and, indeed, sophisticated! No wonder Jose Rizal, the quintessential Filipino, spoke some twenty-two languages!
Filipinos are "groupists." We love human interaction and company. We always surround ourselves with people and we hover over them, too. According to Dr. Patricia Licuanan, a psychologist from Ateneo and Miriam College, an average Filipino would have and know at least 300 relatives.
At work, we live bayanihan (mutual help); at play, we want a kalaro (playmate) more than a laruan (toy). At socials, our invitations are open and it is common even for guests to invite and bring in other guests. In transit, we do not want to be separated from our group. So what do we do when there is no more space in a vehicle? Kalung-kalong! (sit on another's lap). No one would ever suggest splitting a group and waiting for another vehicle with more space!
Filipinos are weavers. One look at our baskets, mats, clothes, and other crafts will reveal the skill of the Filipino weaver and his inclination to weaving. This art is a metaphor of the Filipino trait. We are social weavers. We weave theirs into ours, so that we all become parts of one another. We place a lot of premium on pakikisama (getting along) and pakikipagkapwa (relating). At almost any cost, the Filipino will avoid the two worst labels, walang pakikisama (no comradeship) and walang pakikipagkapwa (cannot relate).
We love to blend and harmonize with people, we like to include them in our "tribe," in our "family"-and we like to be included in other people's families, too.
Therefore we call our friend's mother nanay or mommy; we call a friend's sister ate (eldest sister), and so on. We even call strangers tita (aunt) or tito (uncle), tatang (grandfather), etc.
So extensive is our social openness and interrelation that we have specific titles for extended relations like hipag (sister-in-law’s spouse), balae (child-in-law’s parents), inaanak (godchild), ninong/ninang (godparents) kinakapatid (godparent's child), etc. In addition, we have the profound 'ka' institution, loosely translated as "equal to the same kind" as in kasama (of the same company), kaisa (of the same cause), kapanalig (of the same belief), etc. In our social fiber, we treat other people as co-equals.
Filipinos, because of their social "weaving" traditions, make for excellent team members.
Filipinos are adventurers. We have a tradition of separation. Our myths and legends speak of heroes and heroines who almost always get separated from their families and loved ones and are taken by circumstance to far-away lands where they find wealth or power.
Our Spanish colonial history is filled with separations caused by the reduccion (hamletting) and the forced migration to build towns, churches, fortresses or galleons. American occupation enlarged the space of Filipino wandering, including America, and there are documented evidences of Filipino presence in America as far back as 1587.
Filipinos now compose the world's largest population of overseas workers, populating and sometimes "threshing" major capitals, minor towns, and even remote villages around the world. Filipino adventurism has made us today's citizens of the world, bringing the bagoong (salty shrimp paste), pansit (sauteed noodles), siopao (meat-filled dough), kare-kare (peanut-flavored dish), dinuguan (innards cooked in pork blood), balut (duck egg embryo), and adobo (meat vinaigrette), along with the tabo (ladle) and tsinelas (slippers) all over the world.
Filipinos are excellent at adjustments and improvisation, managing to recreate their home, or to feel at home anywhere.
Filipinos have pakiramdam (deep feeling/ discernment). We can feel what others feel, sometimes even anticipate it. Being manhid (insensitive) is one of the worst labels on anyone, to be avoided at all costs. We know when a guest is hungry though he insists on the contrary.
We can tell if people are lovers even if they're miles apart. We know if a person is offended though he may purposely smile. We know because we feel. In our pakikipagkapwa (fraternizing in oneness), we not only get to slip into another man's shoes, but also into his heart.
We have a superbly developed and honored gift of discernment that makes us excellent leaders, counselors, and go-betweens.
Filipinos are very spiritual. We are transcendent. We transcend the physical world, see the unseen and hear the unheard. We have a deep sense of kaba (premonition) and kutob (hunch). A Filipino wife will instinctively feel her husband or child is going astray, whether or not telltale signs present themselves.
Filipino spirituality makes him invoke divine presence or intervention at nearly every bend of his journey. Rightly or wrongly, Filipinos are almost always acknowledging, invoking or driving away spirits into and from their lives. Seemingly trivial or even incoherent events can take on spiritual significance and will be given such space or consideration.
The Filipino has a sophisticated, developed pakiramdam. The Filipino, though becoming more and more modern (hence, materialistic) is still very spiritual in essence. This inherent and deep spirituality makes the Filipino, once correctly Christianized, a major exponent of the faith.
Filipinos are timeless. Despite the nearly half-a-millennium encroachment of the western clock into our lives, Filipinos-unless on very formal or official functions-still measure time not in hours and minutes but with feeling. This style is ingrained deep in our psyche. Our time is diffused, not framed. Our appointments are defined by umaga (morning), tanghali (noon), hapon (afternoon), or gabi (evening).
Our most exact time reference is probably katanghaliang tapat (high noon), which still allows many minutes of leeway. That is how Filipino trysts and occasions are timed: there is really no definite time.
A Filipino event has no clear-cut beginning or ending. We have a fiesta, but there is bisperas (eve) and the day after the fiesta is still considered a good time to visit. The Filipino Christmas is not confined to December 25th; it somehow begins months before December and extends up to the first days of January.
Filipinos say good-bye to guests first at the head of the stairs, then down at the descamo (landing), the entresuelo (mezzanine), the pintuan (doorway), the tarangkahan (gate), and if the departing persons are to take public transportation, up to the bus stop or station. Other people's tardiness and extended stays can really be annoying, but this peculiarity is also the charm of Filipinos who, governed by timelessness, show how their brothers elsewhere how to find more time to be kind and accommodating rather than prompt and exact.
Filipinos are space-less. As in the concept of time, the Filipino concept of space is not numerical. We will not usually express space in miles or kilometers but with feeling in malayo (far) or malapit (near).
Alongside numberless-ness, Filipino space is also boundless. Indigenous culture did not divide land into private lots but kept it open for all to partake of its abundance.
The Filipino has remained avidly "space-less" in many ways. The interior of the bahay kubo (hut) can easily become receiving room, sleeping room, kitchen, dining room, chapel, funeral parlor, etc. depending on the time of the day or the needs of the moment.
The same is true with the bahay na bato (stone house). Space just flows into the next space, so that the divisions between the sala, caida, comedor, or vilada may only be faintly suggested by overhead arches of filigree. In much the same way, Filipino concept of space can be so diffused that a party may creep into and actually appropriate the street! A family business like a sari-sari store or talyer (production or work area) may extend to the sidewalk and street. Provincial folks dry palay (rice grain) on highways! Religious groups of various persuasions habitually and matter-of-factly commandeer the streets for processions and parades.
It is not uncommon to close a street to accommodate private functions. Filipinos eat, sleep, chat, socialize, quarrel, even urinate, nearly everywhere or just anywhere!
"Space-lessness" in the face of modern, especially urban life, can be unlawful and really counter-productive. On the other hand, when viewed from the Filipino's context, it is just another manifestation of his spiritually and communal values. Adapted well to today's context, which may mean unstoppable urbanization, Filipino spaceless-ness may even be the answer and counter balance to humanity's greed, selfishness and isolation.
So what makes the Filipino special? We are brown, spiritual, timeless, space-less, linguist, groupist, weavers and adventurers. Seldom do all these profound qualities find personification in a people. Filipinos should allow - and should be allowed to contribute their special traits to the world-wide human community - but first, we should know and like ourselves. (Light Touch Magazine Special issue, vol. 8 number 3, Copyright 2004, Glad Tidings Publication)
I am proud and will forever be proud to be a Filipina!

Chocolate Chip Cookie
According to some online quiz at least.
Chocolate Chip lovers are loyal and dependable. You're probably a bit of a traditionalist and, therefore, may find it difficult to try new things. Family and friends are very important to you and you work hard to maintain connections among your loved ones. You have a small group of friends you've known forever and spend time with regularly, and you are the one everyone comes running to for advice. You relish your role as the nurturer and comforter, and your friends repay you by gently reminding you to take care of yourself -- along with everyone else!

HP and the Deathly Hallows
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last of seven installments of the boy wizard’s adventures, will be published July 21, author J.K. Rowling announced.

Excellent news. At least we know now, not too long to wait.
Goobye, Newport Beach
“The sun will set for the last time on THE O.C. when the series ends its four-season run this February 22, 2007.”

I was still in Hoola-land when I learned about the on-coming death of one of the TV series that I have loved to watch. You can even ask my brother that I shed tears upon hearing the news. Why? Because I so 'heart' Ryan Atwood and Seth Cohen.
Definitely, I will catch the emotional ending and the fondest of farewells of the Cohens, the Coopers and Ryan and Taylor in the momentous series finale of The O.C.

Difference between Joy and Pleasure
As we move along the path in life, in search of many things, we often make the mistake of seeking short-term pleasure at the cost of long-term joy. Many people confuse the two. Imagine going out to a gourmet restaurant every night for a month and feasting on great meals and luscious desserts. This is pleasure. But look at yourself in the mirror after that month and I don’t think you will be so joyous. As joy is much deeper, it is being deeply satisfied with an accomplishment. If instead, you had put together a serious program, of eating healthy and fitness – and worked on it for 6 months – you would actually feel the joy of accomplishment and joy of where you are.
Pleasure generally requires no effort. Joy on the other hand, has an aspect of pleasure, but its core existence is connected to working hard and succeeding at something. Joy is seeing your children graduate college or moving into a new home. Joy is the feeling after you have learned a new language or have elevated yourself spiritually. Pleasure is not something negative at all. It is a gift we have been given. We just have to learn moderation and to appreciate true vs. passing values.
Push hard in life and you will see real joy.

Takatatakatakatakatakatak
He is back with a new hit, and for sure, this will create a big following among the Dabarkads (what else but the Eat Bulaga fanatics). The song and the dance step (as if you are dribbling an invisible basketball) is now a hit. Nothing can really stop Joey De Leon!
Itaktak na!
Itaktak Mo
By Joey de Leon (Joey to the World 2)
Agalugtae (Woh!)
Ang magsayaw ay di biro
Liyad Liyad Yuko Yuko
At meron pa liko liko
Parang kumapit ang tuko
Kahit ilong mo ay pango
At boses mo ay kay baho
Sayaw mo man parang mumo
Patakbuhin mo ang dugo
Chorus:
Itaktak mo
Itaktak mo
Itak itak itaktak mo (4x)
Itakatatakatakatakatakatak
Itaktak Mo
Agalugtae (Woh!)
Para malimot ang lungkot
Pati masira ang tuktok
Nang di laging inaantok
Sayaw na kahit kangkarot
Kahit ka lang nakatapak
Roll lang nang roll rock lang nang rock
Kahit nga lamang na palakpak
Bayaan mong tumagktak
Repeat Chorus
Itaktak mo
Itaktak mo
Itak itak itaktak mo (4x)
Takatatakatakatakatakatak (Heh!)
Takatatakatakatakatakatak (Huh!)
Takatatakatakatakatakatak
Itaktak Mo (Taktaktak!)

Sistahud No. 1
Over the years, you have always been there when I needed a warm, helping hand. Over the years, you have been there to comfort, to listen and just understand...
Over the years, we have shared in so much -- all the joys and the tears that time brings. Over the years, I have treasured your friendship as one of life's most special things!

Happy Birthday, Maria Rachelle!

To all the possibilities
I know that something has changed
Never felt this way
And right here tonight

This could be the start
Of something new....

Keeping the Holiday Spirit Alive Throughout the Year
Did you ever notice that people tend to get nice and mushy over the holidays? That they made a special effort to help someone they might have otherwise ignored. That the local newspaper or radio ran a charity campaign in December and many people gave to charity who otherwise doesn’t give.
These are all great things - as every good and positive acts helps fix the world - but the key, and I am writing this is BIG letters is to "TAKE THE ENERGY WITH YOU THROUGHOUT THE YEAR." We all have the opportunity to take the positive actions we took during the holidays and incorporate them into our daily lives. Then - and only then - have we taken the energy and have made ourselves better people.
So if you gave some charity, great - but make an effort to give some each month - I guarantee you will feel great.
If you made special efforts to help people - keep looking out for these opportunities. Yes they are opportunities, not burdens. Nothing happens by mistake. If you see an opportunity to help, it was there for you to see...and to ACT.
If you spent more time with your family, make a habit of it. If you controlled some bad habits (or addictions), be proud of yourselves and take this energy to continue it.
If you felt more spiritually connected, don’t lose the connection just because New Years has passed. Grow it.
Why don’t we consider the holiday season a fun and friendly wake-up call to act the way we want to act, and the way we know we can.

Another New Year
Traditionally, it was thought that one could affect the luck they would have throughout the coming year by what they did or ate on the first day of the year. For that reason, it has become common for folks to celebrate the first few minutes of a brand new year in the company of family and friends. Parties often last into the middle of the night after the ringing in of a new year. It was once believed that the first visitor on New Year's Day would bring either good luck or bad luck the rest of the year. It was particularly lucky if that visitor happened to be a tall dark-haired man.
Traditional New Year foods are also thought to bring luck. Many cultures believe that anything in the shape of a ring is good luck, because it symbolizes "coming full circle," completing a year's cycle. For that reason, the Dutch believe that eating donuts on New Year's Day will bring good fortune.
Many parts in the U.S. celebrate the new year by consuming black-eyed peas. These legumes are typically accompanied by either hog jowls or ham. Black-eyed peas and other legumes have been considered good luck in many cultures. The hog, and thus its meat, is considered lucky because it symbolizes prosperity. Cabbage is another "good luck" vegetable that is consumed on New Year's Day by many. Cabbage leaves are also considered a sign of prosperity, being representative of paper currency. In some regions, rice is a lucky food that is eaten on New Year's Day.
The song, "Auld Lang Syne," playing in the background, is sung at the stroke of midnight in almost every English-speaking country in the world to bring in the new year. At least partially written by Robert Burns in the 1700's, it was first published in 1796 after Burns' death. Early variations of the song were sung prior to 1700 and inspired Burns to produce the modern rendition. An old Scotch tune, "Auld Lang Syne" literally means "old long ago," or simply, "the good old days."
All are encouraged to enjoy New Years, remember that if you party so hard that you don’t remember anything, than the whole night was a waste. Let’s enjoy our family and friends and keep our wits about us. HAPPY 2007.
